A capsule piece is kind of something I invented from the term, "capsule wardrobe". A capsule wardrobe is a collection of clothes that can be mixed and match. So you basically have a few pairs of pants or skirts and tops and you mix and match those. It has become extremely popular during the "minimalist movement". My friend lives in New York City, so space is limited and a capsule wardrobe really helps to cut down on space. So, I use the term capsule piece to mean a particualr piece of your wardrobe that you can wear over and over again.
I am a big believer in saving money every which way I can. HOWEVER, I'm also a big believer in spending a little bit more for good quality on my everyday items. That could mean whatever you want it to mean. Are really good shoes important to you? Buy them. Do you want to invest in a few good pieces of warm cashmere versus spending $10 on many sweaters from Target that do not keep you warm? Do it. I am able to justify those higher priced items by saving money in other places. Here are a few of my favorite capsule pieces currently in my wardrobe:
If you didn't get the memo, boot cut jeans are 100% back in. WOOHOO! I still like my skinny jeans, but there's just something about throwing on your Doc Marten boots and boot cut jeans that make me all warm and fuzzy. (Oh the sweet, sweet nostalgia.)
It's finally boot season! Your wardrobe definitely needs a good pair of boots. I like a good versatile pair that you can wear with jeans, dresses or skirts. Booties tend to be my go to because knee high boots are typically not wide calf friendly.
